Home Child Care

Licensed Home Child Care provides families with a variety of child care options – full time, part time, evenings, weekends, shift work and overnight. Oxford Community Child Care is licensed by the Ministry of Education to support up to 50 homes in the Home Child Care program throughout Oxford County.

Oxford Community Child Care thoroughly and carefully screens, selects and monitors the independent providers registered with the agency to ensure that their homes and programming meet the standards of the Child Care & Early Years Act.  The environment must be warm, caring and fun. All potential providers and any adults living in the home must participate in the screening process.

Once selected to be registered with the agency, Providers may offer care, in their own homes, for a maximum of 5 children from birth to age 12. This number will include the provider’s own children if they are under 6 years of age. Both OCCC and the Provider strive to offer high quality care and learning opportunities that are geared towards individual development. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided.

Home Child Care Coordinators are registered early childhood educators who visit the home on a monthly basis to offer support, resources and training for providers. Inspections are conducted monthly, quarterly and annually.

The Ministry of Education also inspects the agency and selected caregiver homes on an annual basis.
